Simple Magical Underwater Craft!

These underwater crafts are so easy yet so shiny and beautiful, they are such a great craft to do with toddlers and preschoolers! You could either make a whole heap of them, and stick them onto a large sheet of paper to create a magical underwater world, or attach them to a paper straw and use them as mermaid wands!

What you’ll need:

coloured paper
pen
scissors
glitter
glitter glue
craft gems
paper straws
ribbons
…whatever else you find in the store that you’d like to decorate with!

This is such an easy but simple and fun way to really engage your little one’s imagination and keep them enjoying this concept for ages! What I love about this is what once you get started decorating the different shapes of sea creatures, you can really just do whatever you like - which is so great for a child’s creativity to run wild.

Start out by drawing a simple starfish, clam and/or mermaid shape onto coloured paper, cut out and then use anything you or your little one will like to decorate with! I personally love the idea of making them feel “magical”, so we use sequins, gems and glitter for ours, and honestly you can’t go wrong - it’ll turn out looking beautiful and shimmery! For me, I feel like that is what takes this craft to the next level. The glitter and shimmer makes it feel so magical, and also very ocean-like at the same time. It’s like the perfect match!

Plus, you can take it a step further and make it a part of a dress up outfit by adding paper straws to the back of the shapes and using them as magical mermaid wands - boys or girls! There’s plenty of boy mermaid sea princes under the water, too! So go wild with it and have fun.
