I am a young mum to 3 beautiful daughters, originally from Sydney, Australia - now living in country NSW with my partner of over 10 years and our girls.

  1. Read a magazine. Font faces and imagery, as well as the experience of the glossy or matte textured pages can really get your creative juices flowing. If you don’t have one, go out and treat yourself and buy one. Opt for something you’re really drawn to. I used to be obsessed with Vogue as a teen, as I loved the smell of the pages and the classic fonts.

  2. Arrange some flowers either picked fresh or bought. Take that vase off the shelf, and use it. Arrange the flowers in a way that feels good to you. You could even take it to the next level by mixing it up with natives or eucalyptus for added greenery.

  3. Have a picnic (even just in your own backyard). Go to the effort of making some triangle sandwiches, a flask of tea and some biscuits, lay out a picnic rug or even a beach towel and enjoy eating outside on the earth. You could even take the time to meditate as well.

  1. Make some clay earrings. There are so many kits out there to do this, and you’ll forever have a set of personalised earrings that feel “you” and can wear whenever you want to feel extra nice.

  2. Make some jewellery. Again, find a kit that you’re vibing with and make a piece (or two, or a few!) that feels good to you. It’ll be a personal piece you can always keep.

  3. Do a watercolour painting (or whatever type of painting you like for that matter!). I personally love watercolour because there’s just less pressure to get it right. You could either free paint and make patterns, or find some tutorials on YouTube, or use a pre-printed drawing to fill in.

  4. Crochet a small coin purse. You can easily YouTube how to do this if you’re a beginner! Plus there are some super cute ones in the style of love hearts with zips and everything!

  1. Draw or colour-in. We use our phones so often these days to do everything from writing notes to communicating and texting. Sometimes it can feel so grounding to use wooden pencils and put them to paper. It can also really get your creatives juices flowing as you sketch or colour-in. There are so many great colouring in books now, the whole process can be so enjoyable and almost meditative, and you can have fun with different colours!

  2. Go fruit picking (and really soak it in). Find somewhere local that does fruit picking - you’d probably be surprised to find there’s something close by you don’t even know about. Putting on a hat and a relaxing outfit, and getting outdoors to do something like fruit picking can be so grounding as well. We are so used to grocery stores supplying food for us, the whole experience of picking fruit can feel really good to connect back with nature.

  3. Walk in the grass bare foot. We have so many nerve ending on the bottoms of our feet, and reflexology states that certain places on our feet connect to all different organs throughout the body. It’s actually been found that walking on grass has tonnes of benefits from improving eyesight, improving sleep, reducing inflammation, and lots more! We can take grass for granted but let’s not forget they’re plants too, alive and flowing with oxygen and water. Allow your feet to feel the grass beneath them, and feel the benefits starting to work.

  4. Press some flowers and create an artwork with them

  1. Practice some yoga. Find a YouTube video or a graphic on Pinterest to give you some gentle yoga moves, set yourself up in a calming area of your home and spend 10-20 minutes doing some yoga. The breathwork that comes with it and the movements using your body will automatically make you feel more rejuvenated as you get your heart pumping and oxygen moving through your body.

  2. Lie on the ground and meditate with sound bells or Reiki style music. You could either do this in your home or on a beach towel or picnic rug outside - like your backyard or even the beach. We are so used to being in a mode of “doing”, that it’s great to sometimes just spend time letting our thoughts come and go and do nothing for 10-20 minutes. Sound bells can also be such a healing experience.

  3. Go for a walk amongst nature. Getting away from the hustle and bustle and escaping to somewhere like a national park can be the perfect mini getaway. Allow yourself to be surrounded by overarching trees and breathe in the fresh air like our bodies are supposed to. You could either take headphones and listen to some calming music, or just listen out to nature itself.

  4. Plant some seeds or flowers. Like our feet, our hands also have so many nerve endings. Using our hands to dig into the soil and plant something (even with gloves on) can be such a grounding experience. As well as that, even just the smell of the soil and being outdoors can be so rejuvenating and refreshing. Don’t be disheartened if you’re not a green thumb - just use Google and find something easy to plant for this time of year and give it a go. Don’t overthink it!

Wear some lipstick. Yep, I mean actual lipstick! Sometimes we don’t bother going that extra mile with what we wear on a day to day basis, and it’s easy to forget that every day is special. So go a step further and put on some lippie and trust me you’ll feel amazing for it and enter a new energy.

Sometimes it can be so easy for us to stay in the mode of “doing”, which can get us stuck in our masculine energy. We get so caught up in maintaining our homes, keeping up with friends and family, and just simply getting to work on time and making sure there’s food on the table! But every now and then our body and mind crave to slow down and nurture ourselves, which is our feminine energy. In fact, it would be great if we could stay in the habit of it because really that’s what is going to be most productive for us. Finding that balance with our creative, feminine flow to really get the most out of life. So, if you’re in need of some inspiration to get your creative juices flowing or even just to find some creativity and relaxation in your busy routine, here are some simple ways to do just that.

  1. Light a candle in your kitchen. When we’re super busy, sometimes our kitchen can become a place of “doing” things all the time. Add that romantic factor to it by lighting a candle after clearing the bench tops. Take it a step further by spending time journalling in your kitchen with the candle going.

  2. Have a candle lit shower. Do I even need to explain this one!? Even just the image of that makes me feel instantly relaxed. Take your daily task of personal hygiene and make it beautiful.

  3. Eat breakfast with the TV off. This is not about trying to be healthy. Instead, just eat without anything distracting you. Enjoy the small moment of nourishing your body with good food.

  4. Decorate some cupcakes. Baking can be stressful, but cupcakes are super easy and you can take the time to decorate some with cute sprinkles or even fruit like strawberries!

  5. Read a book. Pick up that book you got gifted for Christmas or that you ordered online months ago and get through a chapter. Who knows, you might keep going, and it might open your world a little bit.

  1. Wear some perfume. Sometimes it’s been a while, I see you! Dust off your perfume bottle and spray some on a few areas. Today is special, even if it doesn’t feel like it.

  2. Dance. There’s nothing like putting on some music and having a good dance! It can be whatever you feel, from upbeat to something more magical or relaxing. Or, if that feels too foreign for you, you could even look into classes!

  3. Apply body oil. There’s something about touch and looking after your skin and keeping it moisturised that really awakens the senses. We can sometimes tend to neglect our skin, but let’s remember it’s our largest organ and needs a lot of TLC. Choose an oil that has a beautiful scent and you’ll feel completely awakened.

  4. Light some incense.

  5. Diffuse essential oils. The beautiful thing about essentials oils is that they are so earthy in fragrance, and you can diffuse them over several hours unlike a candle. You could even diffuse some oils before you sleep to really set a magical mood and keep it going into the night.
