5 Super Easy Christmas Traditions with Kids!
One thing that really makes Christmas feel so magical is all the nostalgia that comes with having your own family traditions that you do every year! Traditions are also great because they give everyone purpose and fun things to do instead of sitting around eating food and doing nothing (which trust me, isn't bad either lol - but a bit of both is great)! So here are our family traditions we have started to do as a growing family š„°

One thing I absolutely love about having a family of my own is all the traditions we get to create together! I had quite the dysfunctional home growing up, so traditions were pretty scarce but I must say - when we did have those random little traditions like putting out carrots, cookies & milk for Santa (and my mum would ring a bell in the middle of the night too - is that weird? Haha) it would completely brighten up my whole world as a child. It made everything feel so magical, and when it becomes something regular and traditional, it is so nostalgic and extra special that we all remember to do it together every year.
So, as a mum of 3 under 5, here are my favourite Christmas traditions to make as a family with small children!
1. Decorate your bedroom door!
Now that my toddlers are in their own separate rooms, I realised something super fun we werenāt taking advantage of was their bedroom door! This year Iāve been trying to keep them occupied without all the screen time (cos theyāve started getting bored of it to be honest) and turning to craft activities has been my go-to. So, get into Pinterest or online for some easy toddler craft activities, grab some blu-tac and stick some fun Christmas creations to their door! It will make it feel so personalised for them and will make bedtime feel extra special (and a little bit easier for you!)
2. Make an edible Christmas scene
Last year on Christmas Eve, my younger sister I.e. my girlsā Aunty, made the cutest little edible Christmas scene just using ā- as wooden logs, coconut sprinkled for snow, and a little light up Christmas shop decoration like this one from Amazon or there's plenty at places like Myer or Kmart, too, to set as the main focus of the scene! It was sooo cute and was perfect to add to our table setting. You could either make this super simple too, or go all out with it and spend hours planning and crafting it! Plus you could either make it the same every year, or mix it up and change it, or even build on it and add to it each year!

3. Santaās licence
Again my younger sister came up with this one so thanks sis for the inspo! She bought a licence online that had Santaās face on it, and on Christmas Eve while the girls were occupied inside, we chose a spot in the backyard and dropped the licence there to make it look like Santa had just flown over the top and was in town ready to drop off their Christmas presents! They were sooo excited with the anticipation that Santa was actually in town and super close by - they didnāt know what to do with themselves š

This one is so special and great for toddlers who just CANNOT hold their excitement in much longer! I have found that my girls find it soo hard to wait for Christmas Day by the time theyāve spent weeks or even months now just waiting for Christmas Day to be here, so this eases their little impatience because it must be tough! In fact, I fully understand why some people do small gift advent calendars leading up to Christmas. But this one is a special one I love doing because I feel like itās cute that the idea is the elves have especially given a gift to them. It adds its own special element to it and more of that extra mystery around Christmas. For the Christmas Eve bag, you could either do one āmajorā present off their Christmas list, or something a bit different. I like giving them each a Christmas book eg last year I think I did a Bluey Christmas book like Blueyās Christmas Swim or Blueyās Verandah Santa, a small puzzle, some sort of craft item and an activity. Last year I also gave them a small wooden Cappucino toy set they could play with. So much fun and such a good way to give them something new and fun to do on Christmas Eve! Especially having a new book to read before bed on the night before Christmas š„°

5. Leave food for Santa and his reindeers
This one must go back centuries!! Everyone does this so differently, too which I find interesting. For us, we used to leave out carrots for the reindeers, and some milk & cookies for Santa as a little pick me up while they were riding around on the busiest night of their work year lol! Some people even leave a beer for Santa to enjoy as well, but it could honestly be whatever you want! One Christmas the girlsā grandma decorated some arrowroot biscuits with melted while chocolate, mini mnms and mini marshmallows and those were what we left out for Santa. Safe to say, āsantaā enjoyed them later that night at 9pm once the kids were in bed haha. Make it your own and make it something you like!! š
