10 Christmas Gift Ideas For Dads Who Love To Cook

Do you find it tricky trying to always think of ideas for what to buy as a good present for your hubby or partner? Let’s be real - buying gifts for blokes is not easy. I was so sick of the old dad style socks or random mug present with the funny one liners on them, I wanted to get something really thoughtful for my partner. After all, he does such a good job of being a dad (and puts up with my text messages when I’m having a rough time with the kids… guilty) that I wanted to do better. And then it clicked - he loves to cook, why not get him something cool in that department!?

I’m one lucky gal and I know it - because my partner is the cook in our household. And it’s not just meat and 2 veg, he really goes all out because he LOVES it. I swear men are starting to break down old societal norms and are absolutely slaying it in the kitchen more and more at home these days! We get to eat lots of yummy food, so why not encourage more of that with some cool cooking gifts for Christmas and birthdays!? lol!

Here are some of my top food related gifts for dads who love to cook:

  1. Andy Cooks: The Cookbook

We’ve all seen the Tik toks - “hey babe, what do you want for dinner?” And the guy whips up some hectic meal just seemingly out of random ingredients always kept in the fridge 😂 well that guy is actually Andy “Andy Cooks” Hearnden - with 5 million subs on YouTube and 5 mill on Tik Tok as well, he is one guy dads who love to cook can to definitely look up to for inspo! And that’s right - he’s got a cook book! Perfect for a thoughtful gift!

  1. Cast iron burger press

I saw this one on one of my partner’s favourite cooking shows and I was like dang - I HAVE to get that for a gift for his birthday! I wasn’t actually sure if he was going to think it was useful, but turns out - he is OBSESSED. I repeat, OBSESSED. He uses it not just for home made meat patties to get the “exact right” thickness so his juicy burgers have the perfect bite of balanced ingredients, but also for things like the perfect toastie, quesadillas, steaks, you name it.

  1. Cast iron stovetop grill

Clearly anything cast iron is a winner for dads who love to cook 😂 so here’s another one! This has been an item we’ve had in our kitchen for a longgggg time, and it’s a must-have if your partner or hubby doesn’t already have one. It’s a staple in any kitchen, because it’s so versatile, it’s like having a stovetop BBQ but better. Super heavy duty, easy to clean, tonnes of flavour, perfect.

  1. Campfire pre seasoned frypan

Okay so I promise I won’t just have a full list of cast iron items here but, this is just another go-to if you haven’t already got this in your kitchen! It’s a campfire frypan, which we actually use for most things in our kitchen instead of our stainless steel frypan. It’s actually really large (30cm across), non stick, gets super hot really easily, and creates such a good flavour. We use it for toasties, sausages, eggs and bacon, stir fries, everything. We even leave it out and only clean it every few days unless it’s really bad, because it only adds to the flavour! Super yum.

  1. Scanpan stainless steel set

Our MIL bought us a Scanpan set over a decade ago now, and honestly I wish I thanked her more at the time! I had no idea they were an elite kitchen brand. They’re still our main pots and pans in the kitchen, and honestly aren’t going anywhere anytime soon. In fact, some of our Scanpan items still feel new! They’re absolutely worth the investment and if you haven’t got some already, do it! Works as a perfect gift too.

  1. Pizza oven

We all know homemade pizzas taste best when they’ve been cooked in a super high temperature oven! Instead of always getting take away, for the past year or so we’ve been making our own at home and the girls LOVE standing up at the bench helping daddy put the toppings on. This is definitely a great investment if you love making pizzas at home too! Plus it can be used for other things such as a normal grill or even a firepit 😎

  1. Hibachi grill

You know those cool Japanese grills they use on Masterchef? Why not have one in your own home!! The hubby will feel like an absolute Masterchef star using on of these bad boys!! They’re great too because they can be used anywhere, for any occasion either fancy dishes like Masterchef or casual grill!

  1. Toastie campfire cast iron

Okay one more - this one is especially for the toastie lovers (I mean who isn’t!?) it’s a cast iron especially for toasties! WHO comes up with this stuff I mean honestly! But just think of how convenient and fun it would be to have toasties when you’re camping! Let’s be real, that sounds more like glamping to me 😂

  1. Steak knife set

You could go a little bit classic like with this Jamie Oliver Tefal steak knife set or something more robust like these jumbo wooden handle steak knives. There’s also a fancy option with the Stanley Rogers set too! If there’s one thing I learnt from all my years working in hospitality, it’s that everyone who loves steak loves a good steak knife! For me they’re a staple, because trying to cut into a steak or any type of meat for that matter with a normal knife is just way too hard basket. Honestly you can’t go wrong with a good set of steak knives.

  1. Professional chef’s knife

I feel like this one is a big compliment for a dad who loves to cook! It really says he knows what he’s doing in the kitchen. Another thing I learnt in my hospitality days is that chefs LOVE bringing their own professional knife. We have one of these bad boys in our kitchen at home and my partner uses it as his go to for most things! It’s beautiful to look at, and he’ll feel like a samurai when he’s using one in the kitchen. Such a cool present!

BONUS GIFT IDEA! The humble yet powerful Kiwi knife

This thing is so simple - yet it is an absolute MUST HAVE in the kitchen!!! It somehow manages to always stay sharp, we’ve had ours for years and it’s never needed a sharpen. And it’s just light and easy to use for everything!! It’s one that flies under the radar, but without it you’d be lost! Definitely a highly underrated staple kitchen knife 👏
